Attention all aspiring chefs!!!
The Food Service Department is sponsoring the 1st Middle School Magic Meal Culinary Challenge.  Stop by the cafeteria, your Family Consumer Science class or go online at www.mpsomaha.org today to get your entry form.  Turn in your recipe to be part of your school’s team!   Sixth grade submit recipes for a healthy appetizer, seventh grade submit recipes for a vibrant salad and eighth grade for a chicken entree by Friday February 19th for a chance to compete in the district wide cook off on March 10th.  A team of three from each Middle school will compete.  Are you ready to be crowned the 1st Middle School Magic Meal Culinary Challenge Champion?

Common Sense Parenting
Common Sense Parenting is a six week program that teaches parents proven parenting methods which were developed at Girls and Boys Town.  Skills and techniques taught are adaptable to any home environment and will build and reinforce healthy family relationships.  This class will soon be offered at Kiewit.  Click here for further details.
With-in district transfer form
A change to Nebraska State Statutes requires Millard Public Schools to alter its procedures and time lines for:
 Within-District Transfer to any Millard School
 Within-District Transfers to Special Programs, including
          o Core Academy at Cather Elementary
          o International Baccalaureate (IB)
                   Primary Years Program (PYP) at Aldrich Elementary
                   Middle Years Program (MYP) at North Middle School (grades 6-8) and
                       North High School (grades 9-10), and
                   Diploma Program at North High School
           o Montessori
                    PreK-5 program at Montclair and Norris Elementary Schools, and
                    Middle School program at Central Middle School
                    Kindergarten Entry
                    Pre-Kindergarten (pre-school) program application
If you are interested in transferring to a school other than your neighborhood school or in participating in any of the above special programs you must complete and submit a K-12 Within-District Transfer form to the District’s Pupil Services Office before February 15, 2010, at 5:00 P.M. No late applications will be accepted. If requests exceed capacity, a random drawing, in the order outlined in Board of Education Rules, will determine which applications
will be approved. Applications for Within-District Transfer filed earlier this school year for 2010-2011 will also be subject to these new procedures but need not be resubmitted. K-12 Within-District Transfers will be processed first followed by Open Enrollment and Option Enrollment requests. No waiting lists will be maintained and all previous waiting lists will be eliminated. CLICK HERE FOR THE FORM
Colt Chronicle Vol 1
WANTED!!
Student and staff prizes for our school-wide discipline program.  Next semester, teachers will "catch students being good."  Students will be awarded Kiewit Colt Cash dollars which can be turned in for weekly drawings on each team.  Each hexter, a school wide drawing  for a larger prize will be held.  Nominating teachers may also receive prizes.  Parents can donate a wide range of prizes.  Anything will be appreciated!!  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Each month Kiewit teachers recognize and honor outstanding achievements of their students.  Criteria includes positive leadership, scholarship, character, and effort.
